I’m a ray of f**king sunshine

I really like cuss words.
Profanity.
Dirty words.
Offensive language.
Bad words.
Expletives.
Swear words.
Obscenitites
Whatever you call ’em, they make me happy.
I find them excellent descriptive words great for most any situation.

I have been told that my passion for, and abundant use of curse words denotes a lack of intelligence on my part. (You know I’m saying a great big ‘f**k you’ to those folks.) But, According to Richard Stephens at Keele University,

The fact is that the size of your vocabulary of swear words is linked with your overall vocabulary, and swearing is inextricably linked to the experience and expression of feelings and emotions.

Unlike the vast majority of women in the world, (some men too) I am a fan of the “C word”.
I know.
I don’t mind if you judge me. Most folks do when it comes to this particular word.
To me it’s just another bad word. It doesn’t offend me in any way, and in some cases I find it amusing.
So much so that I had a bit of a squee when banter cards ran a half-price sale on their ‘not quite perfect’ hardback notebooks!
I ordered a few. I mean honestly can one ever have enough journals?
And they’re just so me.
(“C word” alert!!)

As happy as I am with each one, and My C**ting Notepad brings me the biggest smirk, I’m going to have to admit that List Whore just might be my favorite.
Like there was any doubt…but y’all! It even has a little heart! I (heart) lists!
Though a reminder to not be a bitch is always helpful, because some times I simply can’t help myself.

Going to contemplate the perfect use for each one…
In the meantime, I got fun stickers for immediate use in my planner.

Organized as f**k.
You know it!

bite the bullet (journal)

20170107_192209.jpg
So I’ve begun a new (to me) way of getting and keeping myself organized. I spent a great deal of time and effort at my work table planning and executing this organizational process and I think I’ve finally got it just right!
With many notes, and even more lists, and a collection of pinterest photos for inspiration, I tentatively began to consider actually writing in the new book…
It kind of reminded me of Thing 2. I gave her a red moleskine notebook for Christmas one year, just like Dash and Lily’s and she was crippled by it. She couldn’t bring herself to write in it in case she “messed it up”. #perfectionist
I felt the same way. I even went so far as to reach out in journaling groups for advice on how to quell the anxiety about getting started. I didn’t want to bugger the brand new book. #spazz

vader
And that’s applicable to both myself and my second born child.

I finally bit the bullet (Ha! That’ll be funny in a minute to you too!) and actually got started. Of course, I had to make several lists and mock up pages before I could begin work in my actual book. I’m a freaky planner. #madskills

It’s a bullet journal.
If you’ve never heard about it, check out this vid:

I use my phone calendar, but I’m a pen and paper kind of girl and rely on an analog way of keeping myself well sorted. YBW likes to tease my by calling me a luddite. I don’t hate technology…I just like colored pens and paper. #artist
I bought a Leuchtturm1917 notebook.

Like all good Southern girls, I monogramed that s**t. #preppygirl

The Leuchtturm has dotted pages. Now this is not at all like any other journal I have. I prefer lined pages. But the cool thing about the dots is that with a ruler and pen, you can create pretty much any sort of form you need. #crayola

I built a calendar first thing. Month at a glance and then a weekly calendar.
Built in many calendars…some things must be planned in advance. #organizationgoals
The more research I’m doing and the more posts I see about bullet journals, I’m realizing most people don’t build out their calendars so far in advance. But that’s the beauty of the bullet journal, you can build it however it works best for you! And this is how it works best for me.

I built a page to track my weight loss.
I mean, hey, it’s not the simplest thing to get your body at it’s healthiest. If a cute little spread in your journal makes it more fun, then it’s that much easier! #healthyeating

I also think my reading prescription needs to be adjusted…I was having a bit of trouble working on these pages even with good light.
That’s OK though…it’ll give me an excuse for adorable new reading glasses! #sexyat45

mind web…sort of

20160825_1

All set up and ready to rock.
Of course, I began…then panicked. Ripped out the first attempt and folded it in half. Then I made a list on the folded page to organize my thoughts.
Yeah, I’m aware that’s not exactly how this process is designed to work…but that’s how I work…so there it is.

Now I’m armed with list in hand to keep my thoughts organized. My perfect collection of colored pencils and myriad Sharpie and Crayola markers wait at the ready.
I’ve got this.
Sort of.

digging out

Snow day at home with YBW and Things C and G.
YBW and Thing G are playing games on their computers. Thing C watching Clone High on his laptop. I’m finally reorganizing my “office space” from the chaos when my dad died. (Yeah, it’s been ten months but who’s counting?)
Sunday I redistributed all the books between the old and new bookshelf.

Today I’m tackling the desk tables. They’re a hot, hot mess. I honestly haven’t had it in me to do anything but stack more stuff on the piles of stuff. All the papers needed in dealing with my dad’s estate were in a special basket. Anything else just got crammed on one of the tables.

I have put it off and put it off. I’ve stood here in tears ready to just light a match. I’ve stood here braced and ready only to take one look, shrug, and walk away.
Today is the day.
The day I dig out of the hole I’ve been in.
Wish me bon courage.

in lieu of a nap

YBW’s mom is leaving her apartment in the fancy retirement building for a much smaller one in the next door assisted living building. We’ve spent the last two days helping her sort what to take, what to leave behind, and dividing things between our family and YBW’s brother’s family. I adore YBW’s brother, but he is inept at packing, loading and moving. So much so, that I could do nothing but stand, mouth agape when I opened the back of the truck to find such disarray, and the china cabinet tipped over, glass broken into a cardillion pieces.

That’s when I started running the show. I’m in NO way “tooting my own horn” here. I’ve packed and moved enough times that I’ve got a particular knack for it. The fierce compulsion for order doesn’t hurt when it’s time to organize. I’ve felt the need to tread very softly through this process as it’s complicated enough without “the new girl” trying to run the show. YBW did call me Wonder Woman and praise my mad skills. (I totally heart him!)

Now it’s all over, I’m feeling a bit puny. I’m tired, have a wicked bruise on my right thigh and a little achey all over. We grabbed dinner on the way home where I murdered a gigantic cheeseburger and drank a really tall beer. We talked about wanting a nap, but realized it was simply too late to try that today. My solution is a tubby full of hot water and my iPad to binge a bit of House of Cards. I’m just dying to see what the Underwoods are up to.

Bed will soon follow and I’m going to sleep as long as humanly possible tomorrow. (Which for me, most likely means till 7:30.) Thats OK, it’s still later than my normal 5:00.

More “wintery mix” is in out forecast tomorrow and I’m going to lie low, possibly organize my new bookshelf, and lie low some more. This week was shite and I deserve it.
