Sleep is a fickle bitch.
I’m fed up with her shenanigans.
Wine doesn’t help.
Neither does vodka.
Opiates are useless.
Xanax makes me a zombie the next day.
Ambien makes me a mean bitch.
Melatonin makes me vomit.
Prayer makes no difference.
At least lying down isn’t sitting up.
My cocoon comforts me.
Yet still there is no sleep.
I must admit I’m over it.
Not to preach to the choir, but I find that ‘folk remidies’ work best for me. For a restful sleep lavender is good to relieve anxiety and insomnia. Allegedly lavender improves slow-wave sleep, which is when we are most relaxed and our memories get filed and reorganised. (I don’t buy essential oils, I pinched a handful of lavender flowers and keep them in a little poke inside my pillowcase.) Be careful of lavender, it’s also a female aphrodisiac.
You have a point about the lavender, sir. Normally I use it in essential oil form. I guess I didn’t think about it.
